Harry Sticks (British b.1867) Fine English Coastal Seascape Painting c.1895
Harry Sticks (1867 - 1938) - the respected and collectable artist from the late Victorian, Edwardian, Georgian era
A fine and classic coastal landscape / seascape with rocky promontory and placid sea conditions. Probably NE England, perhaps Northumbria.... Sticks' trademark compact size of painting. Bright and vibrant, with fine detail and subtlety in equal measure - excellent condition and quality.
Signed to bottom right hand corner in capitals, his usual style.
In an excellent Edwardian "box" frame, and glazed.
Son of George Blackie Sticks, Harry Sticks practised as a professional artist in oils and watercolours, painting many landscape subjects in Northumberland, Durham, Scotland and the Lake District. He appears to have produced predominantly small scale paintings unlike his father and older brother, George Edward Sticks.....
